Elena Papaleo: Associate Professor, University of Copenhagen / Technical University of Denmark
Elena Papaleo completed her PhD in Industrial Biotechnology and worked as a postdoctoral researcher in several departments of Milano-Bicocca University, later as a senior postdoctoral researcher there and at the University of Copenhagen. She is now an Associate Professor at the University of Copenhagen and the Technical University of Denmark, and a member of the Danish Cancer Society. She sits on the editorial boards of several journals, including PLoS One, Frontiers in Molecular Biosciences and the Journal of Molecular Graphics and Modelling.
Abstract
Assoc. Prof. Elena Papaleo works on the structural aspects of cancer and disease formation, particularly the effects of variants. Her work combines genetic data with structural data to understand what variation means for predisposition to cancer and for drug resistance, and to develop new strategies against the effects of variants. Her team builds tools to classify and predict the effect of variants in patients and reinforces those predictions with experimental validation by collaborators, using biomolecular simulations, network analyses and omics data analysis.
