Abstract
Arthropods are the largest and most diverse eukaryotic phylum, with more than a million species. This talk covers the progress of genomic sequencing for them: over 360 whole arthropod genomes and more than 1000 transcriptomes are currently available, including large-scale projects on multiple strains of Tetranychus urticae, Anopheles gambiae variants, hemipteroids and Daphnia.
It gives an overview of the bioinformatic resources specialising in arthropod data (VectorBase, AphidBase, Ensembl Metazoa, NCBI-GenBank, OrthoDB and others) and the practical considerations of accessing and using both published and unpublished genomic datasets in research.
